Northern Star Resources - Goldfields Wheelchair Football League set to begin for the 2026 Season
Welcome to the 2026 Goldfields Wheelchair Football League, bringing inclusive football to the Goldfields community.
Played on a basketball court with goalposts at either end, Wheelchair Football is a fast-paced, modified version of Australian Rules Football. Teams of five (two forwards, two defenders, and one midfielder) compete in a format designed for accessibility, participation, and enjoyment.
In Wheelchair Football:
A handball is equivalent to a ‘kick’
An underarm throw equates to a ‘handball’
This is a unified competition, with mixed-gender teams and a combination of players with and without disability. It provides a genuine opportunity for people of all abilities to play together in a unified and supportive environment.
Delivered as part of Northern Star Resources, Goldfields Football League, Country Footy WA, GIFSA and WAAAFA's commitment to inclusive sport, the league focuses on participation, connection, and building local pathways for people with disabilities to engage in football.
